American Pioneer Video

NEW PROJECTS

  1. 1. The Long Hunter Series Volume Five with Mark A. Baker. Taping began in July of 2005, but several life events have moved our expected release date to hopefully no later than November 2008. The life events include the passing of my father Joe Wright and my having to (willingly) settle my father's affairs for my Mother, not obtaining all the footage we wanted for LH5, family reasons and job changes where I work. APV is not my main occupation. I do not even get paid for what we do. But we will follow through to completion. Eventually. But with my real job changes, it is getting more difficult to make time. We appreciate your patience and support.

    2. Forging A Flintlock Rifle Barrel.  Jon Laubach teaches how to forge a gun barrel tube, assisted by his son the noted gunbuilder Chris Laubach and Mike Miller.

Bonus material on forging a breechplug and making traditional boring bits.

Gunstocking with Mark Silver
This project teaches how Mark uses traditional planes, saws and basic hand tools to dress out a fullstock flintlock rifle.  Using 18th Century techniques, Mark will show the manner in which Colonial gunmakers rapidly shaped their stocks.  This project is taped and in line for editing. It could be released as early as November 2008, but probably early 2009.

Building Kentucky Rifles with Wallace Gusler
The famous gunsmith of Williamsburg will demonstrate how to scratch build a traditional and elaborate Golden Age rifle using hand tools like an 18th century gunbuilder. Major production will not begin before Spring 2008.

Restoring a 1959 Rolls-Royce
Okay, not a pioneer topic, but something we are interested in. We are having a complete frame off rebuild of a classic Silver Cloud. See Gallery Photos page 5.
