Q: It is sometimes hard to reach you. Why is that?
A: AP Inc. is basically operated by one person. Karen runs the company. Our market is too small to support any staff, and Karen works basically for free. We used to have a 24 hour answering service, but they went out of business. Calls go to either our office or our home, depending on where we are. When we are not available, we unplug the phone line because only about one out of ten customers will leave a message and we pay for every call received. Since 90% of the callers won't leave a message it is not worth keeping the phone plugged in. Please keep trying, or if you get the answering machine, please leave a name and number. We do call back, and we can be very discreet if the order is a gift. We try to man the phone from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, as well as most Saturdays. Q: Where did Mark get his tin pot? A: It was custom made at a rendezvous by a tinsmith working on site. Mark doesn't remember the man's name. Basically it is a standard tin boiler without the handle. Ted Cash can custom make a similar pot. Click here for Ted Cash's website. Q: I can't reach Parched Corn, who made some of the hunting shirts and a shooting bag. A: We can't either. That is the nature of some small businesses. Hurstle and Vela Sweet ran the company and do some real good work, but we have lost contact with them. Update: Vela now advertises in "On The Trail" magazine! No mention of Hurstle. Q: Who made Mark's rifle? A: Marks rifle, named Moriah, was made by the famous gunmaker Jud Brennan. It has a 50 cal. Sharon barrel, a left handed Bud Siler lock, brass mounts and straight sugar maple stock. After 25 years of hard use, Moriah was refurbished by Mike Miller and Mark commissioned a new rifle from Mike named Gideon. The new Miller rifle features a left handed handmade lock, a 60 caliber Getz barrel and brass mounted curly Maple stock in the style of Andreas Albrecht. Photos coming soon. | |
